Gao-Guenie meteorites are classified as H5 chondrites. The fall occurred on March 5th 1960 was one of Africa’s largest observed falls. The stones were found in Burkina Faso, Africa in what was initially thought to be two different falls (Gao and Guenie). It was eventually determined that the stones are identical and renamed Gao-Guenie. These meteorites are often very oriented in shape and many have wonderful rollover lips and fusion crust.
