NWA 8272 (Shocked L6)

A 291.9g stone was purchased out of Morocco in November of 2013. I cut and prepared the slices myself and the classification was done by Dr. Alan Rubin who determined that the stone was a shocked L6 chondrite. I initially suspected this stone to be an IMB, but due to the absence of maskelynite in the type sample the shock level was classified as s4. Nevertheless, this is a beautiful shocked stone with tons of metal. Each slice is polished on one side and comes in a labeled meteorite display box. Petrography as follows: L6 W2 S4 Fa23.9±0.3 (n=15) Fs20.7 Wo1.6 (n=7).
